Meet Natascha Hunt: Lagos Real Estate Specialist with 25+ Years of Experience
A personal reflection on what 25 years in real estate has taught me about people, property, and life in Lagos, Algarve.
A Quick Introduction (If We Haven’t Met Yet)
If you’ve landed on this page, chances are you’re exploring the idea of buying or selling property in Lagos. So let me introduce myself properly.
I’m Natascha Hunt, and I’ve been working in real estate for more than 25 years, helping people navigate important property decisions and find the right opportunities through Lagos Real Estate Specialists.
Over the years I’ve worked with all sorts of clients – international buyers relocating to Portugal, retirees looking for sunshine, families starting a new chapter, and investors searching for strong opportunities in the Algarve.
And if there’s one thing I’ve learned after all these years, it’s this: Real estate is never just about property. It’s about lifestyle, timing, and most importantly, people.
Every buyer arrives here with their own story and their own idea of what life in Portugal could look like. My role is to help connect the dots and guide them toward something that truly fits.
Why Lagos is such a special place
People often ask me why so many international buyers are drawn to Lagos. And once you spend a little time here, the answer becomes pretty obvious.
Lagos has a unique mix of natural beauty, culture, history, and everyday lifestyle. You’ve got incredible beaches, dramatic cliffs, a charming old town, great restaurants, and a relaxed atmosphere that makes it easy to feel at home.
Many people first arrive thinking they’re just looking for a holiday home in the Algarve. Then they start spending more time here.
Morning walks by the ocean.
Coffee in the old town.
Sunsets over the Atlantic.
A round of golf at one the exclusive resorts.
Spending a day on the water on either a yacht or sailboat.
Before long, the idea of staying longer – or even moving here – starts to feel very natural. Helping people discover the possibility of buying property in Lagos Portugal is one of the things I enjoy most about my work.
How I Work With Buyers as their Lagos Real Estate Specialist
When I begin working with buyers, we always start with a conversation. I like to understand three key things right away:
• Your must-haves
• Your nice-to-haves
• Your deal-breakers
These three categories tell me a lot about what you’re really looking for. Some buyers arrive with a very clear picture of the property they want. Others know they want to live in Lagos but are still exploring what type of home fits their lifestyle best.
A villa with privacy and a pool?
An apartment walking distance to the beach?
Something close to the old town and restaurants?
The process of discovering that together is always interesting.
During viewings I sometimes ask a slightly cheeky question:
“So… is this property feeling mild, medium, or spicy?”
It’s just my way of checking how excited you feel about the property. Because sometimes a property ticks the boxes on paper – but the feeling just isn’t there. And sometimes you walk in and immediately think: okay… this might be the one.
Helping Clients Navigate the Process
Buying property in Portugal involves a few practical steps along the way, and part of my role is making sure everything runs smoothly.
Over the years I’ve built a trusted network of local professionals in Lagos, which means my clients always have the right people around them when they need support.
That includes:
• Lawyers (my recommended panel of legal experts here)
• Mortgage advisors (E.g. DS Credito)
• Builders and architects
• Property managers
• Rental specialists
• Cleaning and maintenance services
And yes, there are a few practical details along the way – like getting a Portuguese NIF number.
Don’t worry – I’ll help you get this once we find your ideal property.
As a Lagos real estate specialist, my goal is always to make the journey feel clear and comfortable, so you can focus on the exciting part: finding the right home.
I Work With Sellers Too
While many people know me through my work with buyers, I also help homeowners sell property in Lagos.
Because I work closely with both sides of the market, I have a good understanding of how properties are positioned, what buyers are looking for, and how to present a home in a way that attracts the right attention.
And over the years something quite special has happened.
Many clients come back.
Sometimes they buy another property.
Sometimes they sell years later.
Sometimes they recommend me to friends or family.
Those long-term relationships are one of the things I value most about this work.
A Little Bit About Me Outside Real Estate
If you know me well, you’ll know that, besides being a full-time Lagos real estate specialist, there’s one very important character in my life: my dog Dolly.
Dolly isn’t just a pet to me – she’s truly my little life partner. She’s part of my daily routine here in Lagos and very rarely far from my side.
One of the things I value most is the time we spend walking together. When I take Dolly out for a walk, I actually make a conscious effort to put my phone away. No emails, no messages, no distractions. It’s simply quality time with her and a chance to enjoy the fresh air and the beautiful surroundings here in the Algarve.
Those quiet walks have become one of my favourite parts of the day.
Because Dolly is such an important part of my life, I’m also quite particular about making sure she’s well cared for whenever I need to be away for a little while. I never like leaving her alone for long, so when I’m busy with work or meetings she spends time at a wonderful doggy play group, where she’s always looked after and surrounded by other dogs.
It gives me peace of mind knowing she’s happy and well cared for.
Another big part of my life is healthy living. I’m passionate about looking after both physical and mental wellbeing. I enjoy eating organic foods whenever possible and staying active is something I prioritise.
I work with a personal trainer twice a week, which helps keep me strong and energised. Looking after my physical and mental wellbeing is something I value, and it’s very much part of the lifestyle many people come to the Algarve for.
Healthy living is also reflected in where I shop. A place I really enjoy supporting is Larutan in Luz, a fantastic health food store run by Liza and James. They have completely transformed what used to be the old health shop in Praia da Luz into something special. It’s one of those local businesses that genuinely walks the talk when it comes to quality, organic products and conscious living.
Life in Lagos also has its little traditions. One place I always enjoy returning to is O Camilo (read my blog about this restaurant here), a beautiful restaurant perched above the ocean. The views are incredible and it’s one of those spots that perfectly captures the magic of the Algarve.
Another thing that has always been important to me is building genuine connections with people from different cultures. Over the years I’ve been fortunate to develop friendships in many different countries, and that international perspective is something I truly value.
One of my other passions is skiing, and during the winter months I often take a short trip to the Zillertal in Austria, where I’ll sometimes join a ski group for a few days. It’s a wonderful way to stay active, meet interesting people and enjoy the mountains.
Experiences like that remind me how easily meaningful connections can form when people share moments together.
And in many ways, that same sense of authenticity and connection carries into the way I work.
Because while real estate involves properties and locations, at its core it’s always about people and relationships.
